Exterior Integrity Inspections

If you live in an area where hailstorms are common, you are no stranger to the damage they can cause. From dented vehicles to shredded foliage, the aftermath of a hailstorm is often readily apparent. You might rush out to move your car into the garage the moment it starts to hail, but don’t forget that hail can also cause extensive damage to your roof and other parts of your home.

After a hailstorm, there are important steps that you should take to ensure damage to your home is properly assessed, reported, and repaired. Please see below some of the most important damage to look for after a storm.

Hail Damage - Shingle Roof

The contact of hail onto your roof shingles will start to fracture your fiberglass mat. Over time, the hail damage will make your roof shingle start to tear away from the fiberglass mat below. The integrity of your roof's outer layer is then compromised.

Hail Damage - Aluminum Gutters

Vinyl gutters and leafguards will show punctures or cracks. When you look at gutters, you'll be watching for dents made by hail falling from above or blown from a particular direction. Hail striking the bottom of the gutter will create downward indentation

Wind Damage - Shingle Roof

Windstorms can quickly damage or destroy homes and wreak havoc on property. Common property damage during windstorms include: Roofs: Roof damage is typical after high winds, with loose shingles and roof edges most likely to be impacted. As winds exceed 58 mph, even secure shingles can be ripped off of roofs.

Hail Damage - Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding can crack or chip when large, dense or fast-falling hailstones hit the panels. When hail strikes vinyl siding, it will not typically leave a dent. A crack may occur more often in older vinyl siding. Additionally, you may see holes or puncture marks where the hail has hit.
